ABSTRACT Barbados gooseberry (BGB) is a non-conventional vegetable highlighted for its nutritional value, particularly protein content. However, there lack of scientific information improving the plantation system this plant. This research proposed to evaluate high-density systems cultivate BGB plants sprout production. The experiment was carried out in Horticulture Sector Canguiri Experimental Station Farm from UFPR, located county Pinhais, Paraná State, Brazil. planted open field beds using distinctive according plant stands and pruning thinning management. experimental design randomized blocks with three repetitions per treatment. Five (treatments) were tested: 10 (10?10): × cm; 2) (20?20): 20 3) (30?30): 30 cm spacing keep one growing primary branch plant; 4) (30?30TS) represented by each two secondary branches grown give sprouts (TS) 5) (30?30FS) consisted no (FS = free sprouts). first treatments thinned Protein content also determined verify real A promoted productivity high (28.8% leaves sprout). Treatment 5 produced highest yield (21.7 t/ha month).
